The Mercedes-Benz CLK is a series of mid-sized entry-level grand tourer coupes and convertibles produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1996 to 2009. The second generation, internally designated the C209 and designed by Gorden Wagener, was launched in 2002 and like its predecessor was available in a coupe or convertible; the convertible was notably the last complete vehicle manufactured by Karmann at their factory in Osnabrück before it closed in 2010. A high-performance version of the CLK, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series, was introduced in 2007; it is powered by a 6.2L M156 V8 producing 500 horsepower, mated to a 7-speed SpeedShift 7G-Tronic automatic. The CLK 63 AMG Black Series also additionally features the rear seats removed for weight saving, KW manually adjustable suspension, larger air intakes, bucket seats and carbon fiber spoiler, diffuser and fenders. 500 were produced.
